Environment
Richard Wentworth
Richard Wentworth's work looks at everyday objects and details in the environment. These small details that we usually overlook change the way we interpret the environment.

My Response Schoolwork
In this task I was required to take pictures inspired by Richard Wentworth. I took pictures of things which I thought were good, bad and ugly.
The Rule Of Thirds
Imagine your picture area divided into thirds both horizzontally and vertically. The intersections of these imaginery lines suggest four options for placing the centre of intrest for good composition. The option you select depends upon the subject and how you would like that subject to be presented.

Ansel Adams
Adams developed an exacting system of image-making called The Zone system, which described a method of achieving a desired final print through a deeply technical understanding of how tonal range is recorded and developed in exposure, negative development and printing. The resulting clarity and depth of such images characterised his photography.

Elliot Porter
Porter became interested in colour photography after a publisher rejected a proposal for a book on birds because black and white images wouldn't clearly differentiate the species. Porter began working with a new colour film, Kodachrome introduced in 1935, but it presented considerable technical challenges, especially for capturing fast-moving birds. Drawing on his chemical engineering and research background Porter experimented until he was able to produce satisfactory images.

Andreas Gursky
The perspective in many of Gursky's photographs is drawn from an elevated vantage point. This position enables the viewer to encounter scenes, encompassing both centre and periphery, which are ordinarily beyond reach. This sweeping perspective has been linked to an engagement with globalisation. Visually. Gursky is drawn to large, anonymous, man-made spaces-high-rise facades at night, office lobbies, stock exchanges, the interiors of big retailers.

Negative Space Matthew Venot
Negative space, in art, is the space around and between the subject of an image. Negative space may be most evident when the space around a subject, not the subject itself, forms an interesting or artistically relevant shape, and such space occasionally is used to artistic effect as the "real" subject of an image.

Texture Aaron Siskind
Aaron Siskind's early work as a social documentary photographer is best seen in his contributions to the Harlem Document (1932-40(, a survey of his life in Harlem. Siskind also identified with the ideas and styles of the Abstract Expressionist artists in New Yorker the 40s. In these later photographs he continued to emphasise the modernist concern with the flatness of the picture plane, but intensified his approach to picture making-with close-up framing, texture, line and visual rhyme-creating abstract images of the real world.

Close Up Abstraction
In this task I was required to identify my 9 favourite images taken. Under each image I had to write a word that described the quality of the image. Once I had created the different descriptions I had to choose three categories that I wanted to develop further.
